- Project Main Street takes a localized approach to economic development by identifying landlords of vacant or blighted properties that want to work with our business owners and make necessary tenant improvements that correlate to bringing a specific kind of business to a community based on our feasibility studies of the various markets. By using a qualitative data approach, we are able to pair businesses in neighborhoods that can sustain the products or services the neighborhood is lacking. We provide in-house coaching and professional development opportunities to business owners and employees alike, which strengthen the talent pool and provide necessary upskilling of staff that ensures business success. All of these services impact the marginalized communities throughout the city of Bridgeport. This funding will amplify the success and economic impact that the Collab Exchange has already facilitated in the underserved Bridgeport market.
- Project Main Street's goal is to create a deep economic impact within our marginalized communities by providing direct access to tools and resources to encourage generational wealth. A profound transformation is a process of challenging and educating our underserved communities to prepare them for professional and business growth. This preparation is imperative in the process of change.
- Our programming is meant to transform a community and the people, starting with the mindset and emotional IQ. Many BIPOC entrepreneurs struggle, and their lived experiences are often not reflected in programming. They often need to be recognized and acknowledged when working to empower a community that has been underserved. Project Main Street creates a much-needed change as we engage our community by uplifting and empowering them by providing what is needed to build a foundation that is empowered through understanding business finances, speaking confidently as a professional, and having emotional awareness.
